Erikobby's Top 10 Bianca Moments
1. Our BFP (big fat positive!)
This should be an obvious top 10-er. Strange thing was that come late February/beginning of March, I started getting these weird headaches, and I NEVER get headaches. They made me twitch a lot, which was a pretty funny sight to my little preschoolers I suppose. I was getting pretty freaked out, which in turn freaked Bobby out. Before I made a doctor's appointment I had Bobby give me a blessing to ease my mind. I don't remember hardly anything about that blessing except for the fact that it talked about our future children and grandchildren...which was odd. We took a test a few days later and were SOOOO excited with the results!
2. Telling everyone!
We got some pretty funny responses, which was great! The way we told my mom was even greater. I called her up, told her that Bobby was sick and I was bored and needed someone to talk to (she was wondering why I was calling her in the middle of the week instead of our usual Sunday time). Then I told her I got her Christmas/Thanksgiving present already and asked her if she wanted to know what it was. Of course she said yes. So I told her she was going to me a grandmother! It was great! I think we did the same thing to my grandmother. Then we told Bobby's parents and texted all of our friends, who were all so excited for us! It was a nice evening of celebration!
3. Seeing baby for the first time!
So I got to see her first, since Bobby had to work on the first appointment (and I wasn't even expecting an ultrasound or anything that day!), which was sad. But it was SOO exciting to see this little precious being just chillin inside of me. She had the cutest little arm nubs I remember.
Bobby's first time seeing her was the 12/13 week ultrasound. Here was his reaction:
"When I first saw our baby, I saw a tongue! That's right, she looked right at us through the ultrasound and stuck her tongue out at us. Erika and I both laughed, and I couldn't help but think how blessed we were to have such a beautiful, healthy little girl even before she is born."
I was lucky and while we were in Bethesda we got quite a few ultrasounds. These were our 3 favorites:
One of my kids had a birthday party, so I had a cupcake right before the ultrasound, so she was dancing like crazy in there! She is sideways and her head's at the right X.
But THEN she must have noticed that we were watching her, so she did like mommy does and got all shy and curled up into a little ball, aw!
We love this one! It's a close up of her head and she's sucking her thumb. Adorable!
3. Good luck in the acting world
I call Bianca my little good luck charm. In early February I was offered a lead role in an indie film, Dead Reckoning. I didn't have much going on at the time so I accepted. Little did I know that shortly thereafter we'd be expecting! My first lead role and she was along for the ride. Yes, it was awkward to tell the director, but he was amazing and we worked together to get everything filmed quickly and professionally. It was my favorite acting experience for sure. The people were super nice and it was SO much fun! Here are some screen shots from the movie
Oh and we got a new CAR! 2008 Honda Civic, yay! Thanks for the good luck little one!
4. Finding out the sex @ 20 weeks!
Bobby was so convinced we were having a boy. So convinced in fact that his co-workers did this to his cubicle:
So on June 28th we go in for our "big" ultrasound. It felt like forever until they told us what we were having (note, when Bianca stuck her tongue out at us, I seriously believe she was saying "haha daddy, I AM a girl"). Then the lady showed us that she was, indeed, a girl! Not only is she a girl, but everything looked perfect! I remember I could NOT stop smiling all day! We had ourselves a Bianca! Later on we looked at different middle names and really liked Noel. So we have our own little "White Christmas" coming to us around Thanksgiving, yay!
5. Feeling her (powerful) kicks!
I am convinced this is the best part about being pregnant. I felt her kick first, obviously. I was sitting down waiting to go meet Bobby in DC and I randomly had my hands on my belly. All of a sudden BAM! She let me know she was there! It was so cute. The next day or so I had Bobby put his hands on my belly and we told her to kick for daddy, and sure enough, daddy's little girl obeyed! Ever since then she's been a dancing/kicking machine! I might need to sign her up for dance and soccer classes straight out of the womb! Now it's adorable because I swear she knows Bobby's voice. Whichever side he's sitting on, she moves over to that side.
6. Blessed for all of the wonderful people in DC
This is here for numerous reasons. First, my work threw me a lovely baby shower right before we left Bethesda! I had no idea either! They told me to go to the library/stage and I walk in and everyone was looking at me. I was like "um...what?" haha! I thought it was a bridal shower for another lady that worked there. Turns out it was for the both of us! Everyone brought delicious food in, it was decorated beautifully, and we got some silly gag gifts, cute favors, and a very thoughtful and generous present. I really did love where I worked! People at Bobby's work were fabulous as well! We got some great hand-me-down items that are going to be SO helpful for us! And of course the Bethesda ward was amazing. It was my first ward, so of course it'll always be special to me, but everyone was so kind and sweet to us. Lots of young couples constantly moved in and out, but I never will forget anyone there. Whenever my movie premier is, we'll bring Bianca by for sure :)
7. Moving to Ithaca, NY
When Bobby got into Cornell, I wasn't surprised. I was surprised at how much money they offered us to go there! Bobby got into everything in DC, but none offered him any dinero. We visited Cornell in March (little did we know that Bianca was there!), and felt it was a nice place, a little TOO cold, but overall we had a good feeling about it.
Once we found out there was a baby on the way, we were confused. If we stayed, we'd both have jobs and a decent income coming in (we'd have to move to a cheaper apartment though, but that wasn't an issue). But he'd be working AND going to school at night, leaving no time to spend with us! Plus it'd take him 3 years to graduate because he'd be part time. At Cornell, they gave him lots of $$$ to go there, on campus housing, BUT we weren't guaranteed jobs (esp me, being 6 months pregnant when we moved). I mean, getting a huge fellowship to an ivy league school should be a no-brainer, but we did spend lots of time thinking and praying about it. We came to the decision to move and it was the best decision we made! Erica and Nick came to DC to help us move, and without them, I don't know HOW we would have done it! Nick was awesome and drove the Budget Truck, they packed it in like 2 hours, and we unpacked in less time! So thankful!
Erica (neatly, of course) packing up our elevator to move!
I can now say we made the right decision. We may not have found jobs out here, but we have been so blessed and have our needs met completely! The Cornell Branch is awesome and we love it here (well...we say that now, wait until it starts blizzarding!)
8. RI baby shower!
So Erica was SO awesome during my pregnancy! Pretty much as soon as I told her, she said she wanted to plan the baby shower...and I'm glad she did! She handled all the decorations, games, and even favors! She even got the cake! The theme was "Babywood" which I thought was appropriate.
The awesome invite I ordered!
After we moved to NY, all 4 of us (me, Bobby, Erica, Nick) set off on the road to Rhode Island. We had a wonderful few days there, but the highlight was my shower! A picture journey of this fabulous day!

9. Baby Shower - Ithaca style!
Our first day of church these girls came up to me and I told them I was expecting. They pretty much said that they're going to throw me a shower closer to the date. Man, people are so nice out here! One of the girls, Kim, was SOOO awesome and helped to plan everything (I didn't even help this time, which was odd for me, but really nice) and she even had it at her apartment. A lot of the girls from church came, which really touched me. We had a delicious breakfast and then played some wicked fun games! We guessed who each other's baby pictures were. Then everyone was broken up into teams and made collages of what Bianca will look like. I wish I had gotten a picture of them because they were all GREAT (and silly)! The last game we played was family feud with baby questions! I think my favorite part of the game was when one of the girls slapped the "buzzer", which was Kim's hands, really hard, and Kim's little 7/8 month old son thought it was the funniest thing in the world! So cute! Then I opened up my gifts. Some of the girls got me little individual gifts, which was so nice of them! I loved everything :) Picture time (the only pictures I got)!
(gorgeous diaper cake that I was way too excited about!)
Then they bring this BIG bag over to me. I was so confused because I thought we were done! I opened it and it was a car seat base, which I was thankful for (one less thing to buy when getting our car seat!). All of a sudden Kim wheels out this BEAUTIFUL Graco stroller and car seat behind me! I freaked out because the pattern on it had green elephants...which matched the sheets we JUST bought at Babies 'R' Us! Ahh!
I am so overwhelmed with all of the kindness from these ladies. Thanks for a truly awesome and special shower!
10. FINALLY being completely all set for her arrival!
All we need now is for our little one to come! I've been taking a prenatal yoga class since we moved to Ithaca, which is very helpful and fun. We took classes at the Hospital on childbirth, including a tour of the maternity ward, breast feeding, and infant care. We took some free classes on BF and child birth. We have her pack 'n' play set up (thanks again Monika and Monika's mom!). Washed all of her clothes. Have the nursery completely decorated. And have everything she could need.
And that concludes our list and first (extremely long and overdue) post. There are other things that we love that did not make the list (listening to her heartbeat every appointment and how she hates it and kicks the Doppler and the BM [w/ the temple, good Mexican food with friends, and the ocean]), but I think we did pretty darn well for ourselves! Hopefully next time we post, there will be another Hall added to the family :)
