Ice, Ice, Wilmy!

It's official. We've survived the great ice storm of 2014. It all started on the 12th. We lost power in the morning and waited around. I guess a lot of Wilmington lost their power too, so Bobby's work was canceled for the night, yay. Well it was really odd, because the power never stays off for that long. We waited it out, but it just was not coming back on. Uh-oh! We debated getting a hotel for the night, but surely it'd be back on soon...right??

WRONG!!! Oh SO wrong.

Our other reasoning was that we're in a 3rd floor apartment and hot air rises, right? Well not enough apparently. Around mid-afternoon going into nighttime, it got cold. We all layered up and snuggled up on the couch together. Of course I had planned an awesome dinner for the night which could not be cooked now, thanks ice. We put fuzzy footed pjs on the kids (plus an extra sweater for Cam, who hates the cold, unlike his sister). Bianca was having a blast. She thought this was the best day ever LOL. She loves the cold, weirdo. ;) When it got dark out, Bianca was SOOO excited! We were playing with our shadows in the light of the moon from the windows and our crappy flashlight. Cameron was freaking out. He hates cold and dark, and it was cold and dark. I can't blame him though. Here's our cold pics from that day:

So the next day, the 13th, it was freezing in the apartment and we couldn't take it! It was colder than what the thermostat said, so less than I like 55, so we got dressed and got out of the apartment!! We got a hot breakfast from Chick Fil A to warm us up (LOL) and then went to the Little Gym for Bianca's class. Mr. Brandyn is awesome and let us charge our phones there. He had power, luckyyyy! Bianca had a fun class (daddy and Cam stayed in the car because he fell asleep, silly little boy), and then we went back to the apartment, packed up some stuff for the night, and got a freaking hotel! We couldn't take the cold anymore. And no hotel has ever been more worth it LOL. We ordered a pizza that night, and I went to Wal Mart and Target during nap time to get last minute Valentine's Day stuff. What an ordeal this all was!!!

The next day was VALENTINE'S DAY, YAY!!!  Bobby actually had to go to work that day, boo! We checked out in the morning to check on our apartment. Yeah, still no electricity. And it was so cold in there. I'm so glad we got a hotel last night! We looked up on our phones a new hotel to stay in that was cheaper, just in case. Well, we didn't want to risk it so we booked the hotel. Plus it was a good deal. Hello mini stay-cation? Anyways, we went home and gave our Valentine's Day gifts to each other. Bianca was excited for her candy haha.

We packed up and went to the hotel and dropped daddy off at work. Then we went back and took naps. When naps were over, I got the kids ready because tonight at church they were holding free babysitting for anyone who wanted to get out for the nice. SCORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I dropped the kiddos off and raced off in traffic to get Bobby. We went to Henry's, which luckily was near Bobby's work. Let me tell you, it was AMAZING to go out to eat with no kids. And it was really good! I got the Parmesan crusted chicken and it was amazing. They even gave everyone a gift certificate for the next time they come in (which is smart!). Oh it was such a lovely date! So thankful for everyone at the church who hung out with all the little ones!

We went to the apartment to pick up a couple things before getting the kids and THE POWER HAD JUST RETURNED A HALF HOUR PRIOR TO US ARRIVING THERE!!! And we had a hotel LOL! I knew that was going to happen. Better safe than sorry though. There were balloons and candy waiting for me there from Bobby from the apartment complex, aw! I love him! <3

Then we got the kids. They had fun! Bianca sang "Let It Go" apparently, even though she's never heard it before, but she learns quickly and loves to sing and perform so I'm sure she did lovely. :) And Cameron ate almost a whole bag of veggie straws by himself LOL! And pizza. haha that's our boy! We went back to the hotel, excited to go home the next day (finally!!!).

The next day was full of fun for us, thank goodness after this fiasco of a week! I took the kids to Kayson's birthday party! He had it at a gymnastics place and the kids had a ton of fun! Bobby had to take a test for TFA that day, so he couldn't come. Bianca had fun jumping into the ball pit by herself! So proud of her bravery! The other dads would catch her, which was super nice since I couldn't be there since I had to watch Mr. Cameron. Cam had a blast too. It was funny, he was playing with Ian, and he started to "talk" to him, but that scared the crap out of poor little Ian haha. Cam also liked crawling on the trampoline! What a fun party!

Then, we headed over to Mary Helen's house to celebrate World Nutella Day LOL! What a great holiday hahahahah! Everyone brought a nutella treat and we just pigged out and played games. It was a lot of fun! We're excited because soon Bianca is going to do soccer with Clark and Eve! I think it'll be good for her! It was such a fun night. Of course we're moving once we make awesome friends here, ugh!!

lol one of the games where we had to play table tennis like this. We lost horribly btw heh
