I went in for my final appointment today. Dr. Tse swept my membranes and sent me off. I was only like at 1-1.5 cm at that time. Yay. Not much of a change from last week. She did set an induction date for me though on Sunday at 8AM, so she has an eviction date!! I probably won't go until then though. My kids usually come around the due date. She was convinced of this too. HA!
So we went about the rest of our night, going to my last activity days for a while.
Wednesday October 12th *HAPPY DUE DATE!!!*
Today was my last day of work, hooray! I was so tired and a bit crampy today. I was excited that it was an assembly day schedule though, woohoo! Then I started having bloody show YAY! Maybe this will happen soon! I got through the day eventually and went home, exhausted. We got McAlister's for dinner and just waited. But nada. I even started feeling better as the night went on. Boo!
Thursday October 13th
Maybe a 13th baby?? I felt fine in the AM, of course. Bobby and I went on one last date together to get yummy Oliva! They suckered us into the $4 salads though which we were not happy about (they made it sound like the pasta came with it. Rude!), but we did get the yummy creme brulee at the end, so it was all totally worth it! The day went on and on and nothing else happened.
Friday, October 14th
Maybe today?? Nah! We got a lot done though. We got the kids flu shots, got last minute stuff for Kiera at Target, tried the White chocolate raspberry milkshakes at Whataburger, ya know, all of the important stuff. Took walks, tried everything but no baby today either. At least I might be able to make Micah's soccer game tomorrow?
Saturday, October 15th
At this point I wasn't trying to bring labor on anymore. I gave in that we were going in tomorrow to start having her, which is a good thing because Dr. Tse is on call and I really wanted her there to deliver me. We grabbed food at Habaneros and then headed home. Cameron is starting a new spelling therapy with an at home therapist, so she came over around 1:15pm. I got to meet her and then I took Micah, Bianca, and Bobby's dad to the soccer game.
It was sooo hot that day! Like 92! In mid October! Crazy! But luckily the wind was blowing so it wasn't that bad. Bobby and Cameron came around 2:15ish right when Micah got on the field. The Raptors tied the game that day, yay!! They haven't won anything yet so hey, I'll take that for my last game being able to watch him! Then we all went home and hung out around the house. I requested Andy's as a last treat before baby, yum! Only 1 more day....
Sunday, October 16th *Birthday time*
We woke up early and got ready to go to the hospital. We said goodbye to the kids and headed to McDonalds for a decent breakfast before the induction (which wasn't too smart because it was so salty and I kept wanting water and thus having to go pee a lot haha).
We got to the hospital and no one was there, so we looked around and someone showed up and told us where to go. We went up to labor and delivery and were whisked right away to a room. Looking at all of the machines in there it all of a sudden felt real! I was getting nervous now!
They got all of my info down and had me change into one of those wonderful gowns. They strapped me in and Dr. Tse came in to check me. I was at a 2 still, stubborn little girl. She broke my water so things could get started.
The nurses there were so nice. I think my main nurse's name was Misty. I was in very good spirits when they started me on the pitocin. We just hung out and watched Annie for a little bit. I got to have a cherry popsicle and we were having a grand old time. They upped the pitocin every 30-45 minutes.
It wasn't until the pitocin was upped to a 10 when I really started feeling the contractions. This was at maybe 1-ish. Misty came in to check me again at that point and I was really breathing through the contractions. I was at about a 4-5 at that time. Eww. She said something about some IV meds to take the sting off of the pain so I said yes to that. Yeah, it was just morphine and it didn't do anything to help at all.
Then like 20 mins later I could not take it anymore. I told Bobby to call the nurses and tell them that I want the epidural NOW! Misty came back in and checked me again and surprisingly...I WAS AT A 9?!?!?! WHAT?? So quick??? No wonder why I was screaming in pain. She was on the phone with the anesthesiologist at the time and then she was like "nope cancel that, I don't think there's time for an epidural." NOOOO! Poor Bobby tried to help comfort me, but all I could smell was his deodorant and I couldn't take that smell at that time haha. That made the nurses laugh.
The rest happened so fast! More nurses rushed in, machines rushed in, but no Dr. Tse yet. I hadn't seen her since like 9 am! I started feeling like I had to push, but I tried not to. Then she comes in, seeming surprised it was happening so fast. But she was there and ready to go!
They set me up and said I was ready to go! I maybe spend like 15ish mins pushing (maybe about 4-5 contractions worth). Dr. Tse is so reassuring. I kept feeling like I couldn't do it but she calmly talked me through it. But finally it was one last push and she was out!!!!
I didn't hear a cry at first but then I did! They put her on me and she was just the cutest little thing! She had long dark hair already, which was a change from our little blonde babies. She was just soooo cute!!! We did skin to skin while Bobby cut the cord and all that fun stuff.
She was born at 2:32 PM and she was 19.75 in long and weighed 7 lbs and 3.2 oz. Perfection!!!!
Afterwards I ordered a late lunch (pot roast with carrots and chocolate cake and ice cream) and we just hung out there in room 403 for a bit. Then they got me up, had me get changed and go to the restroom, and then we went to the postpartum rooms. I was in 463.
We decided to come get the kids to meet her after all. It was so clean and nice there so we figured why not. Bobby drove home, got them, they got to meet her for like 10ish mins and then he took them back home. They were so excited!!
The rest of the night was a blur. Nurses coming in and out and everything. In the middle of the night though, Kiera puked on herself and it looked like blood! Freaked me out! Apparently that's common. It was just stuff that was in her stomach from birth. No wonder why she didn't really want to breastfeed much. Then they took her for her first bath and she came back squeaky clean!
She is such a chill and sleepy baby. I literally had to wake her up and strip off her clothes to get her to attempt to eat. Silly girl!
We got to leave after 24 hours of her birth, which was nice. It took forever to discharge us for some reason, which we got a bit worried about because Bianca had dance at 5 that night. But we got discharged right on time
And now we're a family of 6! She was an unexpected blessing and the perfect last piece to the Hall family puzzle. We love you Miss Kiera Paige Hall!!
