New House, New Jobs, New City: Part 1

One word to describe our May would be...EXHAUSTING! Leaving off where we left off, we got our dream house and were so excited. The only way we could get it though was if we started renting it on May 1st. So what we ended up doing is taking the day off for May 1st and drove down to Fort Worth to get our keys. In other exciting news, I had THREE INTERVIEWS THAT DAY AS WELL!!! On April 30th, I got a call from Bear Creek Intermediate in Keller wanting a theatre position (for 5th and 6th grade, yesss!!) and I also got a call from an elementary school, Florence, who they "think" was for a SPED position. I told them my situation and how I'd be in town the next day and they scheduled me for an 8AM interview. But I had no idea what I was interviewing for, hahahah! I prepared for both. Then the lady who I interviewed with earlier about the autism class in Northwest ISD wanted to talk to me again. So if anything, it really seemed like at least I had that job. AHHHH!!!

Fast forward to the 1st. We got to Fort Worth the night before my interviews. I went into the one for Florence first. Man, it seemed like such a nice school! The principal met me right at the door and was really nice. She told me it was for...A THEATRE POSITION, AHHHHHHH!!!!! Oh I was over the moon at that point! We talked and then she called in the team to meet me. That's a good sign, right? I met someone who looked like the gym teacher outside who pointed me the right way, and she seemed super nice, so I was excited. They walked in and one of the ladies said "Hey, so when is the lady coming?" I was like, "um, hi, that's me!" I guess from behind I look just like the art teacher (who couldn't be there that day because of an art show or something). So that was funny. Then she asked about my kids and the principal told her I couldn't talk about that in an interview LOL! I guess she is the gym teacher. But they all seemed soooo nice!!! I think the music teacher liked me, so that's a plus! I thought it went SOOO well, and I don't normally say that. Fingers crossed!

I had a break, went to the Northwest ISD one, which was fine. Just answered questions about the autism job. She basically told me I had the job, we just had to wait for the TX certification to go through (which can't go through until after TFA is officially over).

Then 3rd interview at the intermediate school. I made small talk with the office staff, who seemed nice. Then the interview went on. It was with an art teacher, some other teacher, and the principal...who wouldn't be principal there next year? She seemed really tough though. They kept bad mouthing the guy who had the position and who they said they were firing. It was kind of scary. But I love this age group and think this would be a great opportunity, so I carried on. We'll see what happens I guess!

Then we got the keys to the house, YAAAAYYY!! Bobby was so excited to see it (it was just me that went last month). Then we celebrated our night with yummy milkshakes! I sent out my emails to the principals to thank them and look what the one at Florence sent me:

Erika,

It was such a pleasure visiting with you! I will certainly keep you posted! Please keep me posted if you have offers from other schools.

Have a great week!
Jacque

That's really good, right??? AHH!! I loved that school!!! It would be my top pick I think just because I really liked the team there.

The next day Fort Worth had their "bus tour" they called it where you visited several campuses to show off how great they are. I went on the Elementary one and Bobby went on the Middle/High school one. Sad we couldn't go together though. :( It was ok, but I was on a high from yesterday so I just cruised through it. Bobby enjoyed his time though! When he got out, we ate at Uno's downtown Fort Worth (which was actually super nice) and then drove back home. What a whirlwind 2 days!!

We had an 80's day at school, so of course I dress up for it LOL! The power went off toward the end of the day (which was super fun), and then one of our students said "Wow, now we can really know what it was like back in the 1980's!"

IT'S LITTLE MICAH, I MEAN, BOBBY!!!
