A Very Georgian Thanksgiving

This year for Thanksgiving we decided to go down to GA to visit Bobby's grandparents, since we live so close (for now). The drive there was rough since I forgot to pack the big poofy jackets for the kids, and an hour into the drive, I realized it. So we drove all the way back (mind you, it's a good hour-ish before you even get to a real highway...why there's no real coastal highways on the east coast is beyond me...) to get the stinking things, boo! But whatever. We drove on and I got to see South of The Border for the first time. It's a gas station/restaurant/motel/etc that used to be real cool back in the day, but is pretty dumpy and cheesy now haha.

We grabbed dinner at Cracker Barrel because that was the only place we really saw (and on long car rides with kids, sit down restaurants are key).

We knew we wouldn't get to their house tonight since Bobby didn't get out of work until 6 and then the jacket thing, so we went as far as we could. We stopped about a half hour away from them at 11ish, exhausted! We were excited for the next day though!

THANKSGIVING!!!!

We made sure we woke up pretty early, since his grandparents are awake at the break of dawn, ate breakfast at the hotel, and made our way to their house! Man, it has gotten chilly here! Crazy chilly! All of a sudden too. As long as there's no snow though I can't complain. Lots of Bobby's family came down for Thanksgiving, his Aunt Wanda (all the kids call her Mimi, even Bianca even though she's not her Mimi haha), who brought Riley, Michael (her son), and Sophie (all the way from SC! Her parents just had a baby, that's why they didn't make the trip), and Bobby's dad was there! It was a full house, and so much fun, especially for Bianca, who loves playing with her older cousins! They all played golf outside.

They also bought a table cloth you could color on, so the kids had fun writing their names and decorating it (looks like the adults had fun doing it too, haha)

The kids had fun crawling around with Cameron now that he's mobile now. And he had lots of fun exploring the house as well!

Dinner was yummy. We brought stuffing and cranberry sauce (I can't celebrate Thanksgiving without that stuff hahaha!) and I made some mashed potatoes while Granddaddy grilled up some ribs on the grill, yum! It was a good meal indeed! They had to bring home the kids after dinner, but it was still a really fun time! And Cameron learned how to pop the top off of his puffs...we're in trouble now!

Overall, it was a super fun Thanksgiving and I'm glad we were able to come on down for it!

The next day we just hung around the house. Bianca played outside with the golf clubs and had a grand old time.

Cameron learned how to drink out of Granny's glass, which was hilarious.

Then Wanda came back with a bunch of old clothes from Sophie for Miss Bianca! So cute! She got some dancing costumes and she especially loved the unicorn....

We headed out the next day to spend a day and a half in the ATL and go to the temple, yay!I had Bobby and the kids take a family pic before they left.

We got to the temple right in time for me to go into a session, yay!

Bobby came to get me and we switched places and he went into a session while the kids and I made faces at each other in the hotel's mirrors, ha!

We headed to downtown Atlanta then to go to Coca Cola World! Traffic was a little crazy, but overall, Atlanta (or THAT part we drove through) was really nice! So far, I like it there! It was really pretty and decorated for Christmas already, but freezing, so we didn't get too many cute pics, but here's some!

The Coke place was a lot of fun! We met the Coca Cola bear, watched a little movie, and tasted every single soda (that sounded appetizing that is) there! Man, were we bubbly after that, haha! Bianca had some lemonade and powerade, and Cameron...well he got to chew on a cup that had Powerade in it, haha, sorry buddy! Maybe next time. ;)

We ate at a Mexican restaurant after and got awful service (but good food). Then we just crashed in the hotel until the next day.

We went back to downtown the next day after we packed everything up and left the hotel. We were going to take turns touring CNN that morning! When the ticket taker saw that, he told us we could all just go and take the kids with us, that it wouldn't be that big of a problem, and it would save time and be convenient, so we did it. They did pretty well. Cam got a little antsy at some points, but they were good overall. Plus, I got to read the Headline News, which was fun (it wasn't for real, unfortunately, but still fun!). Oh, and you go up a huge elevator to get to the tour, which is neat. Reminded us of the Bethesda metro elevator. ;)

We walked over to the children's museum after that. It was a lot of fun! Here are most of our pics (most because I have a funny story toward the end of our visit...)

So there was a play going on at the museum and Bianca was super excited for it! So excited that she stood up almost the whole time and tried to act it all out, haha! It was AMAZING! And they asked for volunteers, so she got to be in it for a little bit, so she loved it. Cameron enjoyed it too, when he wasn't crawling away from us (see video haha).

After the museum, we left. :( School/work/back to real life tomorrow. It was a great Thanksgiving weekend though. Thanks, Georgia!!
