RIP Nickel, Our Beloved Civic

Today was a sad day for our family. We lost our Nickle. Never have we ever been so sad... Haha ok over-dramatization is over. But today did suck, but we're all perfectly fine! It was so weird, so today I saw the clock hit 4:44, and I'm silly, so whenever I see repeating digits on a clock, I make a wish. For some reason I wished for Bobby to get home safely. So I made some homemade tortillas for our quesadillas tonight, and as I was making them, I get a phone call from Bobby. It was weird because he had just texted me a few minutes ago that he was leaving (my cue to start dinner). I thought he had to go back into work or something. The first things he said to me was "Don't worry I'm OK, but..." Not something I wanted to hear haha.

What happened was that he went home the back way from Bell, since the highway is closed where he usually gets on (stupid construction), which he has been doing lately. Well this dude in a truck RUNS a stop sign and slams into Bobby!!! He didn't have a stop sign, so it was 100% the other guy's fault. Well of course his truck is alright, bent up a little bit, but our poor civic was smashed in on the passenger's side. The guy is crazy too of course and gets out and starts accusing him of "probably on his phone or something." Bobby stayed calm and called the police.

I gathered up the kids at this point and we went down to go pick him up. When we got there the police STILL hadn't arrived. They came like a half hour later. Bianca and Micah fell asleep in the car, lol.

Of course when the police comes, crazy dude goes over first and introduces himself and tries to be super polite, and then tells his side first. Bobby knew he was in the right, so he just let him spew his story. Then Bobby told his and the cops took one look at the car and told Bobby he had NOTHING to worry about because the evidence points to it ALL being crazy dude's fault. He's yelling and all this stuff now. Plus we find out that his insurance was not current. OOOhhhh boy!

Here's the pics of the mess.

RIP to the first car we bought together. We had JUST paid this off last year too, uggghhhhh!!!

Edited to add later: In case I forget to write about this later, this was all a disaster. The insurance was going to give us money for the car, since it was deemed totaled. Boo! But the title still said it had a lien on it, but we paid that off, so I had to get the lien release sent to us and to the insurance company, but they could only send it directly to me and it had to have the official seal on it and blahblahblah. It took a few weeks, but we got the silly thing. Oh, and we had to get the new title from North Carolina, because that's the last state the car was actually registered in (I swear they never sent us our original title when we moved there!!! So it's their fault lol). So we had to get the lien release, then go through NC and get the new title sent to us, and they had to hold it for 14 days, standard procedure. UGH!!!

The insurance company was nice though and was able to give us half of the money up front and would give us the other half when we gave them the title. The guy even came over to our house to give us our check! So we ended up getting a new Honda Civic. It looks just like Nickle did, except it's a 2011 instead of 2008. And all of our paperwork crap eventually came in and we got our other check. But man, it was a crazy ride. Now we have two car payments, just what we didn't want, ugh!!! Ohhhh well...thanks crazy dude. :(

Here's a cute pic from this morning to make up for this grumpy post

They love the heat, lol
