A Week In RI: Part 1

7/14

We decided this year that we were going to fly to RI for a whole week, renting a car and everything!!! How excited!  It's been so long since we've been able to spend more than like 3 days in a row in RI. We flew from Tulsa to Charlotte and then to CT, since it was cheaper to stay there. It was crazy though, since we had to bring car seats and everything along. We send Micah's and Bianca's to be checked in, and took Cam's on the plane with us, since we thought he'd do better on the plane when he was buckled in his seat that he was familiar with, which ended up being an excellent idea. But this meant that we were taking 3 kids, a stroller, diaper bag, Bianca's backpack of toys, and a car seat all through security. So. Much. Fun. We got through it though, so yay. Plus we were just flying out of Tulsa, which made life easier for us.

They even got stickers from the TSA, so sweet!

The first flight was OK. We tried to stick with our plan where I was sitting with Micah and Bianca and Daddy with Cam, but I got our tickets mixed up and we put Cam on the wrong side of the plane. The extra oxygen mask was on the other side of the plane, and we already buckled Cam in over there, so I had to switch with Bobby and take on the 2 boys myself, ahhh! It wasn't that bad though! I was armed with the tablet with Cam's fave games to play and tons of snacks. Micah was a bit cranky, but fell asleep and was ok, so we all survived the first flight, haha!

We ate some pizza when we got to Charlotte and got ready for our next flight. We all boarded and we got the seating right this time (lol). Bobby was in front of us this time, which made passing stuff back and forth easier. But we were stuck on the runway for like 1.5-2 HOURS!!!!! What??? It was awful. Cameron got a little cranky since we weren't moving, but somehow Bobby got him to finally fall asleep, YAY! And Micah was cranky too since he gets bored really easily. It took him longer to fall asleep than his brother, but it was so nice when everyone was asleep. Bianca made a friend next to us. The girl was a teacher and a Christian, we knew that because Bianca started talking to her about church. Sweet girl! So it was nice to have nice people around our crazy kids.

Since we were on therunway for so long, we were obviously delayed, blah. So we just got on the shuttle to the airport hotel we stayed at in CT and slept!!

7/15

We made our way 2 hours to RI today! Bobby took the shuttle to the airport to get the rental car (that way we wouldn't have had to pay for yesterday when we didn't need it. Smart, no?) and I got everyone ready to go.

We left for RI, but took a detour to stop at Jade Garden for lunch, YUUUUMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!!! Oh it was so good and I still drool looking at these pictures of this yummy food!!! So. Good.

I sure hope so ;)

We grabbed some Dels on the way to our hotel. We checked in and went to visit my mom and Nana and introduce them to Micah!!!!! We hung out for a little bit and then went back to the hotel for the night because it started to storm and being outside in a storm isn't fun.

He doesn't know about this Gram lady...

Cam loved playing with the little safe. We had nothing in it, so it was fine, as long as he wasn't getting into stuff and was happy, we were cool with it.

7/16

We were determined to go to the beach every day we could, so today we went to Newport and went on the Cliff Walk for a little bit! I love Newport! It's so pretty there. We got there and decided to grab lunch at the little shack there. I GOT A YUMMY LOBSTER ROLL AND I WAS SO EXCITED!!!!!!!!

how they slept last night, haha!

Since we knew if we hit the beach first, the stroller would get so sandy and gross (and we wouldn't be able to pull those boys away from the ocean, let's be honest), we decided to go for a walk first! Bianca was so cranky on the walk though because all she wanted to do was go on the beach. So our walk was a little shorter than we'd have liked, but we'll do it again someday.

She didn't even want to be in our family pic, lol

Then Micah got bored, lol

Then we FINALLY went to the ocean! Micah's first time!!!!! Cam loved it most of all! Bianca loved building sand castles and kept running back and forth to the water to grab more water for her castle. Micah...wasn't a big fan. He thought it was OK, but then didn't want to go in the water too much. Oh well. 2/3 of the kids liked the beach, so majority rules, right? ;)

And he's off!

wink?

Daddy and the 2 older ones by the water!

We went back to the hotel and showered and changed and hung out at the family compound for a while. Kathy was there for a bit longer today, which was nice to see her!

Then we got to eat dinner with Erica and Nick that night, which was nice!!!!! So fun to catch up! They may even come with us to Waterfire later in the week! That's exciting! I'll take all the time I can get with my friends, especially living so far away from them. :) After being at the restaurant for a while, we decided to head back and relaxed...aka Mommy and Bianca did a little photo shoot, LOL!! :-P

4/17

Today ended up being a busy day as well! We are being adventurous and trying new beaches. Today we just went to one on the bay in Warwick. It was in Goddard State Park, which I've never been. It was nice, a bit rocky, but nice and family friendly. I'd go there again in a pinch if we couldn't get to a real beach. Of course Cam was off and in the water before any of us. ;) It was a fun morning!

Micah stayed on the beach today :)

Good thing Aunt Barbara had toys for the kids to play with! They got good use out of them for sure.

We showered and got ready and took my mom out for lunch. She wanted to go to IHOP and had Elaine meet us there. It was fun, and Bianca loved her pancakes.

HE IS SO CUTE!!! My little old man, haha!

Then we went back to the family compound and hung out for a while with everyone and Elaine. Cam had fun observing Kathy's tree in the yard and Bianca entertained all of us. Micah boy was good as always.

she asked Kathy to go over and visit with Pearl Kitty, hehe!

Next on our agenda was the South County Hot Air Balloon Festival! Man, was it crowded once we got off the highway! Silly 2 lane RI roads. But we got there and Shire was meeting up with us, yay! She was already there with 2 of her friends so I had strict orders to text her friend when we got there. We couldn't find each other right away since it was so crowded, so we had our priorities straight and grabbed some Dels before we finally found each other, lol. The festival was so much fun! We got to go inside a balloon, which was interesting. Shire and Bianca played ball in there, haha!

Then we got a free sample of mac and cheese, lol. Oh the little things!

We let the kids bounce around for a bit while us adults (plus Micah) chatted.

Shire said the kids need to go on rides, and since Bianca was the only tall one, we let her go on a couple of rides.

We all grabbed different dinners (I waited FOREVER for my clam cakes and chowder from the boy scout shack, but it was yummy!. Then we sat on the grass to eat and hang out for the rest of the night.

Bianca wanted to color a pic for Shire, aww!!

I guess she liked it, haha!

Bianca made friends with Shire's friends...and they made friends with Anna and Elsa too, lol

And Bianca entertained us!

Not many balloons went up at night, which was sad. That's why we went at nighttime. But a couple eventually went up and then a few lit up, so it wasn't a complete waste.

We had so much fun catching up with Shire!!! :) What a busy busy day. zzzzZZZzzzzzZZZZzzzzzzz
